Johnman played close to 300 matches for the great Motherwell side of the late `20`s and early `30`s but injury ensured that only seven of them came in their title-winning 1931/32 season.
Despite his relatively late conversion to full-back, Johnnie was reliable on either flank as well as a fine athlete whose pace was an asset.
He arrived at Dunfermline following a couple of seasons in English football, his experience essential in keeping the Pars in the First Division. However, injury again cost him his place and he was released at end of 1935/36.
